Sonya is a graduate of Princeton University, where she was in the cast of the Princeton Triangle Club, the nation's oldest touring collegiate musical comedy theater troupe. She completed The Baron Brown Studio's two-year Meisner program, and is on a UCB Improv House Team (Hi Baby Gorgeous!) at The Upright Citizens Brigade theater. She also regularly performs improv with several other indie teams. She starred in the feature film Hayflick Limit, produced by California Pictures, as well as several short films.
