Before moving to Manhattan in 2009, Joan lived in several major cities, including Miami and San Francisco. In college, Joan studied languages and literature, and in graduate school, she studied linguistics, ultimately becoming a book editor. When she began freelancing as an editor full time, she was able to bring acting — her first love — back into her life. In her personal life, Joan is a space geek, going to star-gazing events and astrophysics lectures.
