Adept at clowning and musical theater, Futaba brings a sense of play and tenacity to new works and revivals alike, from Off-Broadway to the silver screen. A trans, Asian actor, Futaba’s notable performances include performing alongside Laverne Cox in The Drowsy Chaperone at Carnegie Hall, being directed by Tina Landau in “A Transparent Musical,” and starring in the film “Therapist Crush” written and directed by MJ Kaufman. Futaba is a winner of an Obie Award and a Paul Robeson Award for his advocacy work.
