Trained in musical theater and clowning, Futaba brings a vibrant twist to contemporary new work and re-imagined revivals alike, from Off-Broadway to the indie screen. A transgender, Asian actor, he was recently directed by Tina Landau in “A Transparent Musical” and starred in the film “Therapist Crush.” Futaba is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a winner of an Obie Award and a Paul Robeson Award for his work bridging art and advocacy. He plays piano and guitar, and is a Japanese heritage speaker.
