Hello, I'm Carmen and having lived in the city for well over 20 years I can proudly say, "I'm a New Yorker!" My son was born here so he's lucky. My dad, a naturalized citizen from Mexico, and my mom (Texican) felt pressure to speak only English in the home, so I'm currently a Spanish Heritage Learner so I can try to connect with my roots. It's slow going! One of my favorite mantras comes from Jill Charles, the former AD of Dorset Theatre Festival, "Go, do what you do, love it, share it." Indeed!
