In my senior year at Cornell, the Chair of the MFA offered me a place in the program for the upcoming fall. Instead, I got ordained, pastored a church, performed three weddings, two funerals and got my MDiv. I was a jail guard with the nickname “Officer Dave” . I was the maître d' at Mortimer’s where my regulars included Jackie O. I opened a cocktail lounge, got married, became a Teaching Fellow, taught fifth grade, had a daughter, got another master’s, and became President of a nursing school. Now I'm back!
