Shafik was born in Dallas, TX to immigrant parents, escaping the Lebanese Civil War. He grew up in the suburbs of Boston, spending most of his time in his father's busy restaurant. At home, he would speak Arabic, and English everywhere else. Being first-generation American he often struggled to fit in between the chasm of two cultures. He found his solace in the arts; music, dance, and theater. Life = Arts Education Family
